Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid tribute to India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on the occasion of his birth anniversary, which is celebrated across the country as Children’s Day or Bal Diwas. Speaking to Rahul Gandhi, a prominent Congress leader, also paid tribute to Nehru, describing him as a symbol of “freedom, progress and justice”.
Rahul Gandhi expressed on the blog: “Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru embodies the ideals of freedom, progress, and justice. In today’s India, these values of ‘Jawahar of Hind’ should be embraced as an ideology in every heart.” Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, along with Sonia Gandhi and other party leaders, paid floral tributes to Nehru at Shantivan in the national capital.
