Aditya Srivastava, a resident of Lucknow, achieved the coveted All India Rank 1 in the UPSC Civil Services mains examination of 2023, a remarkable feat that marked a significant turn in his career trajectory. The journey that led him to this pinnacle of success was not conventional by any means. A graduate from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, with a degree in electrical engineering, Srivastava had embarked on a lucrative path, earning approximately Rs 2.5 lakh per month at Goldman Sachs in Bengaluru back in 2019.

However, despite the financial allure of his corporate role, Srivastava found himself drawn to a different calling – the civil services. Just 15 months into his tenure at Goldman Sachs, he made the bold decision to leave his high-paying job and return to his roots in Lucknow to pursue his ambition of serving the nation through the civil services. His rationale behind this pivotal career shift was deeply influenced by a volunteering experience that had profoundly impacted his perspective on life and societal responsibilities.(also read: Gita Mehta: A Famous Author).
