A prestigious competition held in collaboration with Lakmé Fashion Week and the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). Abrol’s label, ‘Countrymade,’ clinched the coveted title after a rigorous selection process at the FDCI headquarters, outshining a group of five shortlisted designers.
In recognition of his exceptional talent, Sushant Abrol is set to receive a substantial grant of ₹8 lakhs from Nexa. This grant will enable him to showcase his creative work at the upcoming Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI event, scheduled to take place from October 11 to October 15, 2023.
The distinguished panel of judges for this competition featured prominent figures in the fashion industry, including Shashank Srivastava, the senior executive director of marketing and sales at Maruti Suzuki India Limited; Sunil Sethi, the chairman of FDCI; and Jaspreet Chandok, the group vice president at Reliance Brands, among other esteemed experts. The competition’s aim was to identify and nurture emerging talent within India’s dynamic fashion industry.
Abrol’s collection draws inspiration from the epic journey of a soldier, encapsulating powerful themes of unity and transformation. His creative work has been lauded as an “extraordinary odyssey that transcends boundaries,” aligning seamlessly with Nexa’s season theme, Veracity.
Shashank Srivastava commended Sushant Abrol’s design presentation and show concept, describing it as exceptional in terms of its thoughtful conception, execution, and creative expression. Sunil Sethi, representing FDCI, echoed this sentiment, expressing great anticipation for Abrol’s forthcoming runway presentation.
