Gandhi Jayanti holds significance as one of India’s three national holidays. On this day, government offices, schools, and educational institutions typically remain closed.
In October 2023, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) are scheduled to be closed for a total of 11 days, which includes weekends (Saturdays and Sundays). Notably, October 2nd, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, falls on the second day of the month.
Given the observance of Gandhi Jayanti as a national holiday, both BSE and NSE will remain closed on October 2nd. Consequently, trading activities in the equity, equity derivatives, and securities lending and borrowing (SLB) segments will not be available on this day.
