Russia’s highest court decided that LGBT activists should be called “extremists” and banned the international LGBT social movement. This worries gay and transgender people that they may be arrested and punished. The court’s decision follows a trend in Russia of making it harder for people to talk about or show their sexual orientation or gender identity. This includes making laws against promoting non-traditional sexual relationships and making changes to gender in the law or for medical reasons.
