Noem recalls an incident where Cricket disrupted a hunt and later attacked chickens belonging to a local family with precision, earning comparisons to a “trained assassin”. Realizing the imminent threat posed by Cricket, Noem made the difficult decision to euthanize him, leading him to a gravel pit and putting him down.

The narrative takes a somber turn with the demise of a family goat described as “nasty and mean” in Noem’s account.
