In a thrilling encounter between India A and Pakistan A at the ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup, India A emerged victorious with a resounding 8-wicket win. The match, held in Colombo, saw several standout performances from the Indian team.
India A’s chase of Pakistan A’s target of 206 runs was spearheaded by Sai Sudharsan, who played a brilliant innings, remaining unbeaten on 104 off just 110 balls. His innings included 10 fours and 2 sixes, providing the much-needed stability to the Indian innings. Nikin Jose also contributed significantly with a quickfire knock of 53 runs off 64 balls, further accelerating India A’s chase. The duo ensured that the target was achieved comfortably in just 36.4 overs.
Earlier in the match, India A’s bowling attack showcased their skills by restricting Pakistan A to a modest total of 205 runs. Rajvardhan Hangargekar played a crucial role in this victory, delivering an exceptional performance with figures of 5/42. He started off brilliantly, taking two wickets in his very first over, and later returned to dismiss the lower-order batsmen, finishing off the tail. Hangargekar’s relentless bowling was well-supported by spinner Manav Suthar, who claimed three wickets.
Qasim Akram of Pakistan A played a vital innings of 48 runs, which proved crucial in helping his team cross the 200-run mark. However, his effort was not enough to steer Pakistan A to a formidable total.
With this impressive victory, India A finished at the top of Group B in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup, securing a spot in the semi-finals. They are scheduled to face Bangladesh A, the runner-up of Group A, in the semi-final clash. On the other hand, Pakistan A will lock horns with Sri Lanka A, the winners of Group A, in the other semi-final match.
The stage is set for two enthralling semi-final encounters as the emerging talents from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka battle it out for a place in the final of the ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup.
