Heath Streak, a prominent figure in Zimbabwean sports during the 1990s and early 2000s, is very much alive. We understand the gravity of the mistake and extend our sincere apologies to Mr. Streak, his family, and the community for any distress caused.
A Legacy of Achievement;
Heath Streak’s cricketing journey is characterized by his exceptional contributions to the sport. With a notable record of 65 Tests and 189 ODIs, he amassed 4,933 runs and secured 455 wickets for Zimbabwe, solidifying his presence on the international stage.
Transitioning from his illustrious playing career, Streak ventured into coaching roles, sharing his expertise with various teams across domestic and international cricket. His coaching journey included significant tenures with Bangladesh, his home nation Zimbabwe, and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Challenges and Redemption:
In 2021, Heath Streak faced a significant setback as he admitted to breaches of the ICC’s anti-corruption code, resulting in an eight-year ban from the sport. Among the allegations was his acceptance of a payment in bitcoins from an individual with corrupt intentions.
The charges covered a span of games between 2017 and 2018, during his coaching career post-retirement. These allegations encompassed his involvement in international cricket with Zimbabwe from 2016 to 2018, as well as participation in T20 leagues like the IPL, the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), and the Afghanistan Premier League (APL).
