The State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) is reporting deaths in Dahod, Bharuch, Tapi, Ahmedabad, Amreli, Banaskantha, Botad, Kheda, Mehsana, Panchmahal, Sabarkantha, Surat, Surendranagar and Devbhumi Dwarka.
The recent lightning-related deaths follow eight previously reported victims, including a motorcyclist in Botad and a man in Mehsana who was hit by a falling tree. In addition to human damage, lightning also causes damage to cattle and sheep in some areas. Abnormal rainfall, due to cyclonic circulation over the northeast Arabian Sea and neighboring Saurashtra and Kutch areas, affected 220 of the 251 talukas of Gujarat.
