In an exciting World Cup qualifying match at the Monumental Stadium, Argentina won their third game in a row, showing that they can do well even without their star player, Lionel Messi, who played as a backup.
In the beginning of the game, defender Nicolas Otamendi surprised everyone with an amazing shot that scored a goal for Argentina. This goal helped Argentina win the game with a score of 1-0.
Argentina’s three midfield players, Alexis Mac Allister, Rodrigo de Paul, and Enzo Fernandez, played exceptionally well. As a result, Paraguay had a difficult time influencing the game. When Messi started playing in the second half, instead of Julian Alvarez, it felt like the outcome of the match was certain. Even though Messi wasn’t playing his best, he hit the post two times, but it didn’t stop Argentina from continuing to defend their World Cup.
Here are the scores given to the players for Argentina’s performance at the Estadio Monumental.
The people on a sports team who try to stop the other team from scoring are called the goalkeeper and the defense.
- Emiliano Martinez did not have much work to do because the defense in front of him did a good job. He only had to make one save.
- Nicolas Tagliafico played very well as a left-back and did a great job defending. He was also good at passing the ball accurately.
- Nicolas Otamendi, who usually plays as a defender, scored an amazing goal and it was his fifth goal for the national team. He also did a great job at stopping the Paraguay team throughout the entire match. A very impressive show.
- Cristian Romero had a good game in defense, although he wasn’t as impactful as his partner. He stayed strong and reliable throughout the match.
- Nahuel Molina (7/10): Like Tagliafico, Molina didn’t have as big of a role, but he still did a very good job.
