An Akasa Air flight from Delhi to Mumbai, carrying 186 passengers and six crew members, was diverted to Ahmedabad airport after receiving a security alert on Tuesday, according to an airline spokesperson.
The flight, Akasa Air QP 1719, landed safely at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad at 10:13 am. All passengers were safely deplaned, and the airline confirmed that it is adhering to all safety and security protocols on the ground.
“Akasa Air flight QP 1719, traveling from Delhi to Mumbai on June 3, 2024, with 186 passengers, one infant, and six crew members on board, received a security alert. Following prescribed safety and security procedures, the plane was diverted to Ahmedabad.
The Captain executed all necessary emergency procedures and landed safely at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 10:13 am. All passengers have been deplaned. Akasa Air is following and supporting all safety and security protocols on the ground,” a spokesperson told news agency ANI. This incident occurred just a day after a Mumbai-bound Vistara flight with 306 people on board from Paris received a bomb threat, leading to a full emergency being declared at Mumbai airport prior to its arrival. The Vistara flight landed safely at 10:19 am on Sunday.
Vistara reported that its flight UK 024 from Paris’ Charles de Gaulle airport to Mumbai received a handwritten note on an airsickness bag threatening a bomb, according to an unnamed source cited by news agency PTI. A full emergency was declared at 10:08 am, and the flight landed at 10:19 am.
In a statement, Vistara confirmed that “a security concern was noted by our staff on flight UK 024 from Paris to Mumbai on June 2, 2024.” The airline immediately informed the relevant authorities and is fully cooperating with security agencies for all mandatory checks. The flight landed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, and all safety protocols were followed.
