On Thursday, a court in New York said that a rule preventing the former U.S official from talking publicly will stay in place. President Donald Trump and his lawyers cannot talk about the court case while it is still going on. Judge Arthur Engoron put a rule in place because Donald Trump said mean things about a person who works for the judge. This made some people who like Trump say mean things to the judge. A judge stopped the order for now on November 16th.

Trump, who might be the Republican nominee for President in 2024, is being accused by New York’s attorney general of lying about how much money he has to get loans and insurance. Despite Trump saying he didn’t do anything wrong, the court received a lot of harassing messages after he posted on social media.
Trump’s lawyers said that the gag order stopped him from speaking freely. It was on hold while they appealed. Engoron, who had already punished Trump with a $15,000 fine for breaking the rules in the past, said that if Trump continues to break the rules, he could be punished even more, possibly even with jail time. The gag order only applies to Engoron’s employees.

In another legal case about Trump trying to change the 2020 election results, he has to keep quiet. New York’s Attorney General, Letitia James, says Trump and his businesses lied about their finances. She wants to punish them with a $250 million fine and stop Trump from being involved in New York real estate.
Even though Trump has been charged with many crimes, the Republicans still really like him and want him to run for president in 2024. He said he didn’t do anything wrong and is innocent of all the accusations, even the ones about trying to change the 2020 election outcome.
