Dream Game Studios, which is a part of Dream Sports, the company that owns Dream11, has launched its first mobile game in India and Pakistan at the current ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The game, Dream Cricket 24, is now available for testing on Google Play. This release is coming after a recent launch in Bangladesh.
As per what Dream Sports posted on social media, Dream Cricket 24 lets you watch the exciting cricket matches of the 2023 ODI World Cup on your mobile phone. This release is coming out at a good time because it lines up with a big cricket match between India and Pakistan in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 that people are really excited about.
Dream Game Studios released the game in August. It was then made available in Bangladesh the following month. In August 2021, Dream Sports bought Rolocule Games, a mobile game company located in Pune, and changed its name to Dream Game Studios. The founder, Rohit Gupta, now works as the CEO for the mobile gaming studio.
Dream Cricket World Cup 2023, a new version of the mobile game, was released on October 13th. Now, players have the opportunity to play for any of the 10 teams in the World Cup. They can also participate in at least 48 different challenges called “Match of the Day. ” These challenges include various formats like Super Over blitzes or 5-over ODIs. Players can choose the team they want to play for and have as many matches as they want. If they win, they will earn tickets to the World Cup. The “PLAY WITH FRIENDS” mode lets players ask their friends to join them in playing together in private games.
But, it’s important to mention that Dream Sports is having problems because the tax department has sent a notice asking for an explanation about their claims for goods and services tax (GST) which amount to INR 40,000 Cr or more. These claims are related to their main fantasy sports platform called Dream11. This happened because the government added a 28% tax to real money gaming.
Dream Sports has made the decision to close its investment division called Dream Capital. Both video games that are free to play and those that require payment are subject to an 18 percent tax rate on sales of the game and any purchases made within the game.
In the latest news, Dream11, a successful gaming company, bought Sixer, a platform for playing fantasy cricket. The online gaming market in India has been growing in recent years. The growth was slowed in the past because not many people had access to gaming devices and the cost of internet was high. But more people using the internet and smartphones have changed how we play games. According to a report by KPMG, the online gaming market in India was valued at around 14,500-15,500 crore Indian rupees by the end of FY22. Out of the 430-460 million gamers in the country, over 90% are mobile or casual gamers.
